Fall Ball 2008

This past Sunday, we had the Schumacher Annual Fall Ball which consists of playing touch football, pumpkin carving and yummy food and drinks! We had such a good time! Our team won...with me tagging Matt...hee, hee! We had tons of hor derves which everyone chipped in to make! Uygar (my future brother-in-law) made all of the wraps and baked ziti! I made homemade chocolate chip and pumpkin cookies. I got really creative and even decorated the pumpkin cookies for Halloween! We also had homemade brownies and hot chocolate. My father in law set-up the tv on the deck so we could watch "Garfield Halloween" and "The Great Pumpkin Charlie Brown" in which Matt recited the entire movie...he's so cute! Peanut (the family dog) even dressed up in her lady bug costume...she was really cold! Now we are officially ready for Halloween with our carved pumpkin!! It was such a fun day!!

Me running with the football! Scary!

Night Out with The Millers

We had so much fun this past Saturday when we got together with our friends Bud & Melissa! We traveled to New Jersey and met them for dinner and visited some of the fire houses nearby. We had such a fun time! We went to dinner at this Country Club where they live and there was a live band. We thought it was going to be a really cool band...but not so much...but that was the fun of it all! Melissa & I laughed so hard at these people dancing to "Under the Boardwalk" and many many more older tunes! Especially at the woman who had her portable fan plugged in to the table so she wouldn't get too hot! It was hilarious! The food was awesome and the entertainment was at the least very entertaining. The lead singer went around to every table to get people to sing some of the songs and "of course" she comes by our table and "of course" I participated...we were cracking up! It was such a fun night with yummy food & drinks! We can't wait to our next night out with The Millers! Who knows what's in the cards for us next time!

In Memory of Mike Moore

On Saturday, Matt & I attended a Memorial Service for one of the long-time training officers of Claymont Fire Department in Delaware, Mike Moore. He passed away last week from a long battle of lung cancer. Mr. Moore was such an inspiration to all that he taught at the fire department including Matt. All of the firemen dressed in there blues and Matt was right there with them and honored Mr. Moore in such a honorable fashion. I was so proud of Matt on Saturday and what he stands for. As he wore his blues with his hat and white gloves and saluted Mr. Moore and his family, he touched me and everyone that was there so much! Being a fireman is not an easy job and they touch and save so many lives everyday. I am so happy that Matt is one of these men. As I walked into the Memorial Service on Matt's arm and the bag pipes were playing, I was reminded of how special all of these firemen are and how we should be thanking them everyday for what they do for our community. It is a self-less job! The service was beautiful and the family and friends that spoke of Mr. Moore touched everyone in that room. We love and respect you Mr. Moore and you will be missed! A big THANK YOU to all of the firemen for all that you do! A HUGE THANK YOU to Matt for being a fireman for over 10 years and loving every bit of it! I admire you so much and you are my hero! I love you!

CONGRATULATIONS JEN!

I have been meaning to post this for a couple of weeks now...but it's never too late! I want to say a big CONGRATULATIONS to one of my dearest friends, Jen! She just found a out a couple of weeks ago that she is PREGNANT! I am so happy for her and of course her hubby Ryan! Jen & I have been friends for over 17 years and I couldn't be more thrilled! We have literally grown up together and gone through so many phases in life from junior high to high school to college to being in each others weddings! It's so amazing and wonderful! I literally screamed and cried when Jen called and told me that she was pregnant! So now we go through another phase of life together and this one is so sweet. Whether we are near or far, our friendship is always constant! I am so blessed to have Jen as one of my very best friends in life! I love you Jen!

Gettysburg Get-Away

Matt and I went to Gettysburg last weekend to celebrate being married for almost 6 months! We had such a good time! Matt has been at the fire academy for the last two weeks in Emmitsburg, Maryland getting his certification in Arsen investigation. So I drove down and picked him up on Friday and we stayed at a hotel in Frederick, Maryland and then drove to Gettysburg both Saturday and Sunday. We went to the National Apple Festival on Saturday in Gettysburg and it was a lot of fun! I ate apple pie, drank apple cider and got a cute fall decoration for outside! We also went to a winery and did some complimentary tasting...yummy! That night we decided to do our first halloween scare and go to the Ghost Tour and it freaked us out!! Matt got us the mature tour at 11p.m. and they took us on a battlefield, into the woods which looked up the hill to a cemetary where we were told ghost stories. Ohhh but that wasn't the end...then they took us into the cellar and told us more stories...!! I told Matt that if I saw anything weird...that my head would go inside my sweatshirt...I'm such a scaredy cat on these types of things. It was really cool! We are glad that we did it even though I wanted to run to the car a couple of times...lol! On Sunday, we went to a pumpkin patch but once we got there...it was really for kids so we'll definitely bring our kids there one day. We left and decided to go and see Uncle Hank and Aunt Jan (Matt's aunt and uncle and mine now too!) They live about 45 minutes away in Greencastle, PA and we were able to visit with them and go to dinner at the Country Club! It was so good to see them. We love hanging out with them when we can! We ate at some really good restaurants and it was just a great time! I will post pictures of the trip really soon!
